Ecologically Produced

All our flowers are grown on an organically certified farm. That means we take special care of the soil and we don’t use any chemicals to add nutrients or kill off weeds or pests and diseases. Instead we support the natural cycling of nutrients and use cultivation techniques to ensure we don’t get build up of weeds, pests and diseases. In this way we can rely on ecological systems to keep the soil, plants, and insects in a healthy balance.

I try to choose species and varieties of flowers that attract pollinating insects. In the summer months we are visited by many species of bees, including the local honey bees from up the hill. I also try to choose flowers that, although not always necessarily native, still have a wild feel to them. Nothing pleases me more than the hedgerows in May and that is the feel I am trying to recreate in the cultivated field.
